INKARI performs the music of the Andes region of South America, with instrumentals
and songs sung in Spanish as well as the
indigenous languages of Quechua and Aymara.
Their diverse repertoire includes ancient, traditional and modern rhythms mixed with
pre-Columbian and contemporary compositions on flutes and strings. Inkari’s
performances are visually colorful and aurally exquisite, profound and spirited.Inkari
has brought their music to audiences in a myriad of venues from large outdoor festivals
with many thousands in attendance to concerts in theaters with up to 1,700 seats.
During the last ten years they have toured nationally from Hawaii to Florida to New York
and nearly every other region in between. Over the years their collective travels have
taken them throughout Latin America and Europe. They have been enthusiastically received
everywhere they go and are continuing to expand their excellent reputation.
As of the year 2000, Inkari has recorded six volumes of music and are working on
their seventh. Their songs can be heard on a growing selection of radio stations from
coast to coast. The group is committed to preserving and sharing their cultural
heritage through musical performance. They dedicate their work to the cultural
integrity of the indigenous peoples of the Americas.Inkari is expanding their
musical array in addition to the Peruvian-based
traditional and folkloric rhythms typically found in Andean music. |
